Down 8.4 pounds in a surprisingly good week!

I didn't want to post much about this week until I saw how well I went.  Before the holiday gain I'd been having one meal replacement shake for breakfast and a frozen meal for both lunch and dinner, with snacks in between (averaging 1400-1600 calories).  This past week to drop the holiday gain I decided to replace two meals a day. So I have had a meal replacement shake for both breakfast and lunch, and a frozen meal in the evening. I also cut the snacks back to just a piece of fruit for my morning and mid-afternoon snacks, and a frozen dessert pop after dinner. I didn't know how hard this would be - I could get too hungry and fail, so I haven't really told anyone about it yet.

So how'd I go?  Surprisingly well!  The first two days I did eat fruit a couple of hours after each shake, but I was amazed that I really didn't get hungry.  After that I tended to forget I even had the fruit with me sometimes, so I would have just one piece of fruit or even skip it altogether. I thought I'd be ravenous by the time evening came, but I really wasn't!  As I ate my one evening frozen meal each day I'd eat it slowly, savouring the taste thoroughly.  When I finished I had a frozen popsicle type dessert and believe it or not, I was satisfied. I did not get hungry after that.  My daily calories for this past week averaged 1094 (49% carbs / 27% protein / 24% fat) which is pretty low, but seriously I wasn't hungry!

So what were the results?  Last Saturday I was 121.4 kg (267.64 lb) -- and this morning?  117.6 kg (259.26 lb) - that's a loss of 3.8 kg (8.38 lb) this week!!  :)  I've basically lost everything I gained over the previous 4 weeks in just ONE week!  Woot!!  Oh I know I won't drop this much every week, but hopefully I can continue this and get a nice head start on my weight loss in the new year. :)  So yes, I'm very pleased with replacing two meals a day and I plan to continue for the coming week.  By the way, that's Sunday through Friday I'll be doing that - hubby and I always go out to eat for lunch together every Saturday and that will continue, but I've adjusted for that and today's calories will be 1528 - we're going out for Thai and I'll be having the vegetarian satay with tofu. :)
